Image findings
A panoramic view of the central area of the lesion shows solid tumor growth with mucinous component mainly in the submucosal layer and the minimal invasion in the superficial proper muscular layer. As a result, the lesion is elevated.
The margins of the elevation are covered with non-neoplastic mucosa. On almost the entire surface, submucosal invasive cancer was exposed. No tumor showed polypoid growth in the marginal mucosa, suggesting nonpolypoid neoplasia.
Anatomy Sigmoid colon, rectosigmoid colon
Modality Microscopic feature
